This 2-year training with its carefully designed structure teaches psychological skills, principles and language to professional body therapists. The training bridges the use of professional treatment and therapeutic touch with the insights and skills of contemporary mindfulness-based psychologies. Influenced by holistic approaches such as HAKOMI and Jon Kabat - Zinn´s Zen model, these are many of the same skills used by psychotherapists in the context of one-on-one therapy.
Most body therapists are insecure about psychological interventions. They feel incompetent to start a healing dialog with their clients and name the emotional issues they perceive. They are nervous about touching or evoking something that they feel they cannot manage. In this training we address this fear and will teach a set of principles and skills that enable the body therapist to help their clients with these issues. Our intention is to help the therapist feel confident in their verbalizations, to deepen the healing relationship and move the process along to a positive resolution.

The course was inspired by the elegant HAKOMI psychotherapy system created y Ron Kurtz. However, Deepesh has continued to enrich his approach with contributions from his decades-long Zen practice, from further personal training with Ron Kurtz, who has taken the HAKOMI method far beyond its original conception, and from 10 years of studying and teaching the nature of trauma, neuropsychology, and cognitive behavioral therapy. For the last 5 years he has been an adjunct professor of transpersonal psychology at Naropa University. Most recently, he has studied the cutting edge field of positive psychology and strength-based counseling.
